Paul Jennings

Former Post Doctoral Researcher

Research Interests:

My main research interests are development of search techniques and their application for electrocatalytic problems. I have recently been focusing on the use of machine learning routines within a genetic algorithm to improve efficiency of finding candidates of interest.

I focus on investigating nanoparticles for catalytic applications, particularly the consideration of structural and compositional effects on activity and stability. These studies are primarily performed with density functional theory calculations but benchmarking is done with empirical potentials.

I completed my BSc in Forensic Science at the University of Glamorgan (2008) before completing an MSc in Molecular Modelling at Cardiff University (2009). I then progressed to study a PhD  as part of the Doctoral Training Centre for hydrogen fuel Cells and their application at the University of Birmingham (2014). After completing my doctoral studies I undertook a postdoctoral position at the Technical University of Denmark (2016).
