(Closed) Post Doctoral Research Fellow in catalysis data science

Job description:

A Post Doctoral position is available for immediate start. The project focuses on developing structure-property relationships linked directly to thermal as well as electrochemical catalysis using deep-learning methods from the computer science community. The position is at the SUNCAT Center for Interface Science and Catalysis at SLAC National Acceleratory Laboratory in Menlo Park, California, USA. The appointment is for 1 year with a possible extension of 1 year (1+1) based on successful productivity and funding.

Job requirements:

The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and possess a detailed understanding of the modeling of surfaces within density functional theory and its application in heterogeneous catalysis. Strong programming skills in Python and experience with scientific software development, machine-learning and/or statistical modeling are required. The applicant is expected to have good team skills and should possess the ability to handle and monitor several projects at the same time. Oral and written competency in the English language is essential.
